A dipslide is a means of testing the microbial content of liquids. This is a common method of monitoring and measuring microbial activity within many systems and commonly cooling systems. Usually the use of a dipslide is the first line of defence for the testing of microbial issues that could be caused to manufacturers and machine shop fluid systems.
Dipslides consist of a plastic barrier which bears a sterile culture medium which can be dipped into the liquid being sampled. The resulting microbial colonies are estimated by reference to a chart.
Dipslides are usually incubated for 48 hours after use and any subsequent bacteria in the sample water will grow and form colonies.
pH-Fix are Macherey-Nagel's range of non bleeding pH test strips which provide a number of clever and useful features. There are 15 varieties to choose from, covering different ranges between 0-14 and different sensitivities from 0.2 to 1.0 pH units. Other features include: Non-bleeding indicator dyes - no sample contamination Optimized colour scale - easy pH-measu...
Visual test kits are a cheap, quick and easy way to test for different parameters in water samples. The VISOCOLOR range from Macherey-Nagel are a range of visual colorimetric and titrimetric test kits. The Range includes VISOCOLOR alpha, ECO and HE. To help you find which kits are best suited for your needs the differences and benefits of each are detailed below. Titrimetric Test Kits A ...
Measuring high levels of free chlorine can be problematic; Colorimeters used to test free chlorine are based on a colour change test; The DPD 1 (N,N-diethyl-p-phenylenediamine) method for residual chlorine was first introduced by Palin in 1957. Over the years it has become the most widely used method for determining free chlorine in water and wastewater. Hach introduced its first Chlorine te...
QUANTOFIX® test strips are semi-quantitative in nature. They meet the most important requirements of rapid test strips and are used widely in water testing as an economical way of testing for common water quality parameters like chlorine, ammonium, water hardness and phosphate.
Rapid
Most of the QUANTOFIX® test strips can be carried out in 10-120 seconds. That makes the application ver...
When fresh produce like salad products are processed, the disinfection is often performed by adding hypochlorite solution to the wash water.
Several standards state this must be maintained at 50mg/L or greater concentration - a very high level in terms of measurement for quality control.
Palintest offer two methods which are able to detect chlorine at such high levels for ongoing quality ...
Macherey Nagel have added a new test paper to their range - the Waterfinder test paper detects the presence of water with a clear, visible colour change. The principle of the test is very similar to their existing Watesmo test paper - so how can you choose which is best for your application? [caption id="attachment_8817" align="aligncenter" width="603"] How can you choose between Watesmo ...
Pasteurisation (or pasteurization) is used in a range of liquid food and drink products to kill bacteria, making it less quick to spoil. In milk this process is especially important - a recent study by the Centre for Disease Control (CDC) in the USA showed that the risk of a disease outbreak was 150x greater from unpasteurized or "raw" milk than pasteurized milk. Quantofix test strips are modern, convenient and useful at the point of interest.
Sometimes the requirement for fully quantitative results is not needed, and the results obtained from test strips is the most convenient way to measure an analyte given the constraints worked in.
Machery Nagel has a wealth of expertise in the rapid testing arena, and offers many platforms to the end user:

Thanks for sharing such a great information.. It really helpful to me.. I always search to read the quality content and finally i found this in you post. keep it up!
I came across your article about "DPD Tablets" on Camlab Info, and it's a valuable resource for anyone seeking information about water testing and analysis using DPD tablets. Your explanation of their usage and significance in water quality monitoring is quite informative.
This article on nanocolor tube tests is a gem for analytical enthusiasts. The idea of zero calibration is intriguing, and your detailed explanation makes it accessible. The step-by-step process helps demystify the technique for beginners like me. The use cases you've highlighted, particularly in...
Grant have introduced the new Controlled Rate Freeze Thaw (CRFT), which is a liquid nitrogen and cryogen free controlled rate freeze and thaw system for cryopreservation in a wide range of applications. Cryopreservation is a process where biological materials such as cells, tissues...
