What is a pH calibration?

One of the golden rules to pH measurement is to routinely calibrate your pH meter before measuring any samples.

pH buffers have a known pH value, most commonly 4, 7 and 10. Calibration with these buffers gives the meter reference points to use whilst measuring the pH of other samples.

 

The TRUEscience SMART cap system uses a bluetooth signal to transfer your pH reading from the electrode to an app on an android phone or tablet.

Working in an app means the clear, full colour screen has room to guide you through calibrations with ease. Everything is displayed in clear full words, and there are even additional pictures and prompts to guide you through. See the below video to see just how simple pH calibration can be:
