How are turbidity and TSS (Total Suspended Solids) related?
How are turbidity and suspended solids related [caption id="attachment_4973" align="aligncenter" width="300"]Palintest compact turbimeter Palintest compact turbimeter[/caption] The optical phenomenon of turbidity or light scattering is caused by particles suspended in the sample. These suspended solids can be quantified using a gravimetric method i.e. filter the sample through a mesh, dry and weigh the retained solids. Once the mass of suspended solids is known this can be related to the value of turbidity generated by a high-performance turbidity meter such as the Palintest Compact Turbimeter, allowing a user generated calibration to be used to give instant values for Total Suspended Solids. The correlation between the two values is a straight line relationship assuming the solids maintain a consistent profile of density and particle size, something which can be validated at periodic intervals. Whether a simple turbidity tube,  the Palintest Compact Turbimeter or the gravimetric method, Camlab can assist you in all your turbidity and suspended solids needs [contact form]
