The Stuart RE402 and RE402P rotary evaporators replace model RE302 and RE302P and are supplied with vertical cold finger condensers, for use with dry ice or dry ice for volatile low boiling solvents, and a complete set of glassware. The glassware is plastic coated with model RE402P increasing operator safety should any glass fail under vacuum, and also provides time to transfer any hazardous substances to a suitable vessel without spillage.

Dedicated for use with ice or dry ice, the RE402 is design for high condensation efficiency, when highly volatile solvents are evaporated. The large 1 litre trap of the condenser is easy to empty, thanks to its unique drain system.
The vacuum connection is fitted with a PTFE plastic screwthread connections providing quick and safe assembly as well as total chemical resistance.
Plastic coated version available (code RE402P). Condenser, receiver flask and florentine flask have a temperature and chemically resistant polymer coating which will counterbalance the effect of implosion which can sometimes happen if damaged glassware is accidentally put under vacuum. The plastic coating acts as a safety screen, containing the glassware pieces thus protecting the operator

What is BioCote?
BioCote anti-microbial coating additive is present on all Stuart brand equipment and offers anti-microbial action to help prevent cross-contamination.
This unique additive is applied during the manufacturing process and contains trace levels of active silver ions which provide an effective anti-microbial action, active against many strains of common bacteria and fungi, including Aspergillus niger, E.coli and Listeria mono.
This coating remains active for the entire product lifespan and can actually help in prolonging the life of products, where a build up of microbes may cause premature material degradation.
BioCote works by inhibiting bacteria in a number of ways including protein damage, cell membrane damage, oxidative damage and DNA interference. Ultimately, the bacteria are prevented from replicating. Without this, bacteria have been shown to die naturally within around 8 hours. BioCote works in a way different to antibiotics so it is currently effective against antibiotic resistant strains.
More recently, BioCote technology was proven effective against particular virus strains, with a reduction of 90% in 2 hours against feline coronavirus, strain Munich. Read more here.
