Cole Parmer Stuart Undergrad range of analogue Hotplate/Stirrers. Stuart Undergrad hotplate stirrers are available in a choice of coated metal or ceramic tops.
The square design of the hotplate allows flexibility of vessel sizes. With Biocote antimicrobial surfaces.
The Stuart Undergrad range has been redesigned with a modern new look and features a selection of magnetic stirrers, hotplates and hotplate stirrers. Each unit has a large square 15cm x 15cm base and a stackable design for saving space whilst not in use. This hotplate stirrer has a choice of ceramic top plate or coated aluminium.

Choice of ceramic plate or aluminium coated plate. Ceramic is chemically resistant with cool edges to prevent burns and coated aluminum top plate has rapid heating and better temperature uniformity.
Maximum plate temperature of 450°C (ceramic) and 325°C (coated aluminium).
15L maximum capacity (not to be used with highly viscous liquids, for this we recommend an overhead stirrer).
100 - 2000 rpm speed range.
Designed with micro-processor controlled dual thermocouples to ensure accurate temperature control and protection from overheating.
“hot” warning light flashes whenever the plate surface temperature is above 50°C and continues to flash until the temperature drops below 50°C, even when unplugged.
Analogue dial to set the plate temperature and stirring speed. They also feature a LED ring surronding the control knob which progressively illuminates showing the increase in plate temperature in real time.

All models include an integral fitting for a retort rod and allow the retort base to slide underneath.
SCT2 temperature controller (available separately) give you the ability to control the temperature of the sample itself as opposed to just setting the plate temperature. With this range of hotplate stirrers, you can expect to receive a control accuracy of ±0.5°C. (Please note, this does not come with a retort rod which must be purchased separately to mount the controller on).

What is BioCote?
BioCote anti-microbial coating additive is present on all Stuart brand equipment and offers anti-microbial action to help prevent cross-contamination.
This unique additive is applied during the manufacturing process and contains trace levels of active silver ions which provide an effective anti-microbial action, active against many strains of common bacteria and fungi, including Aspergillus niger, E.coli and Listeria mono.
This coating remains active for the entire product lifespan and can actually help in prolonging the life of products, where a build up of microbes may cause premature material degradation.
BioCote works by inhibiting bacteria in a number of ways including protein damage, cell membrane damage, oxidative damage and DNA interference. Ultimately, the bacteria are prevented from replicating. Without this, bacteria have been shown to die naturally within around 8 hours. BioCote works in a way different to antibiotics so it is currently effective against antibiotic resistant strains.
More recently, BioCote technology was proven effective against particular virus strains, with a reduction of 90% in 2 hours against feline coronavirus, strain Munich. Read more here.
