Chemical oxygen demand (COD) is one of the most important parameters in effluent monitoring and treatment. The COD test is used to predict the requirement an effluent will have for oxygen and hence the effluent's likely impact on the aquatic life of the receiving water course.
Camlab water COD can be measured in three ranges. LR (3-150 mg/l) is applicable for final effluents and treated waste water. MR (20-1500 mg/l) is suitable for measuring crude sewages, untreated and partially treated waste water. HR (200-15000) is suitable for monitoring trade effluents.
Please note a reactor is required for COD sample digestion.
Camlab water COD vials enable the user to easily perform highly sensitive and precise water testing. When using the test vials measurement is considerably faster and easier, particularly in the case of standard and serial tests. The vials contain a precisely measured amount of reagent, thereby avoiding the presence of superfluous chemicals and optimising test safety.
Highlights:
Performing highly sensitive tests
Optimized test safety
Fast and easy
Special optical glass
Suitable for use in:
Camlab water colorimeters and photometers
Hach spectrophotometers and colorimeters
LaMotte spectrophotometer and colorimeter
Lovibond specrophotometers and colorimeters
Can I buy chemicals as a private individual? The majority of chemicals can be purchased by private individuals but there are a number of products which are restricted for a number of reasons. These include Hazardous chemicals, weapon and drug precursor chemicals and other restricted chemicals.
What's the process for buying Chemicals? Business User - You should have an account with Camlab so we can verify your status, for online purchases you need to be registered on the website against that business account and logged in. For hazardous and restricted chemicals you may need to undergo an additional check. To facilitate this you should provide a company number when making a purchase. New companies or sole traders may need to provide additional proof of a trading business to ensure we can fulfil your delivery. These checks may add to the delivery times for these items, The delivery time period will not start until the chemical check has been completed; for clarification please phone 01954233110
Private user - For the purchase of Non-Hazardous chemicals you should be a registered user of the website and be logged in to make these purchases.
Guest checkouts for hazardous or restricted chemicals will be cancelled and refunded.
Delivery to Home addresses? Camlab use a specialist chemicals courier to deliver chemicals, they will not deliver any hazardous chemicals to a residential address. These must be sent to a business address.
Home office license scheme We are currently unable to supply chemicals to people who possess a home office license for private individuals under that scheme.
Are Camlab chemicals suitable for clinical or other medicinal use? Camlab supply chemicals for laboratory use only, they are not suitable or recommended for any other use.
Are Camlab chemicals suitable for food use? Camlab supply chemicals for laboratory use only, they are not suitable or recommended for food use.
A chemical oxygen demand (COD) test is used to measure the amount of organic compounds in a water sample. It measures the capacity of water to consume oxygen during the decomposition of organic matter and the oxidation of inorganic chemicals such as Ammonia and nitrate. The most common method uses COD vials with overall results being achieved in approx 2-3 hours. Before you start, make sure ...
Spectrophotometers are relied on by a wide range of laboratories, for tests ranging from specific parameters, like chlorine or metals concentrations, right through to complex analyses of reaction kinetics. When choosing a spectrophotometer the range of specifications and price is vast, so take the time to list the features you need before you buy and make sure you choose the right one. [c...
A number of customers have asked us for a definition of COD or Chemical Oxygen Demand which is detailed below.
Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD)
Chemical oxygen demand (COD) is a measure of the capacity of water to consume oxygen during the decomposition of organic matter and the oxidation of inorganic chemicals such as Ammonia and nitrite. COD measurements are commonly made on samples of waste wate...
