Standard Glass Microfiber Thimbles
Thimbles of type 603g are made from borosilicate glass fibers with organic binder. There is also a selection of borosilicate glass thimbles without binder.
These thimbles can be used to a maximum temperature of 120°CCytiva's Whatman cellulose thimbles are manufactured from high-quality alpha cellulose cotton linter for high-performance use in automated Soxhlet extractor systems. Their key features include:
- A wide variety of solid-liquid extraction studies, including lipid and pesticide analyses in food and soil samples
- Suitable for temperatures up to 120°C (248°F)
- Excellent mechanical strength and retention
- Wall thickness of standard thimbles is 1–1.5 mm to support application need
- Option for double thickness for added rigidity
Soxhlet extraction for lipid analysis
Food samples can be prepared for lipid analysis using Soxhlet extraction.
Extraction thimbles are widely used for Soxhlet techniques. After extraction, samples can be refiltered with a 0.45 μm filter to remove small particles in order to protect your analytical instrument.
